AmpliMed™ Announces Two Senior Appointments

Oncology Drug Development Company Promotes Dr. Evan Hersh to EVP and Chief Medical Officer and Names Wayne Morrison Director of Finance and Administration

Tucson, Arizona, March 22, 2005 – AmpliMed today announced the promotion of Evan Hersh, M.D. to Executive Vice President, Medical Affairs and Chief Medical Officer and the addition of Wayne Morrison as Director of Finance and Administration.

As a co-founder of AmpliMed, Dr. Hersh led the rediscovery of Amplimexon™ (imexon inj.) as an anticancer drug. Amplimexon is now the lead drug candidate in AmpliMed’s clinical development portfolio. As Executive Vice President, Dr. Hersh will assume full responsibility for the planning and execution of all AmpliMed’s clinical and scientific development programs.

Mr. Morrison brings more than two decades of experience in operations, finance and accounting in the healthcare industry to AmpliMed. He most recently served as Chief Financial Officer for two privately-held developmental stage companies and for NextHealth, Inc., a provider of wellness and preventative healthcare services. Earlier, Mr. Morrison served as President for a privately-held healthcare company specializing in weight loss and lifestyle management.

“This is an exciting time for AmpliMed as we have just embarked on Phase I/II clinical trials at five research sites to study Amplimexon in the treatment of pancreatic cancer, and with Dr. Hersh assuming an expanded role we expect to bring additional new drugs into clinical trials for various cancer patient populations,” said Robert Ashley, Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and President of AmpliMed. “We are also delighted that Wayne has joined AmpliMed at this critical time in our company’s development. His experience will be invaluable as we analyze business opportunities and continue to develop and expand our portfolio of anti-cancer therapies.”

About AmpliMed Corporation

AmpliMed Corporation was founded in 1989 with the support of the University of Arizona Technology Development Corporation and is focused on the clinical development of chemotherapeutic agents for cancer. AmpliMed’s strategy is to develop anti-cancer drugs with novel mechanisms of action designed to overcome some of the limitations, such as myelosuppression (suppression of blood cell counts), multi-drug resistance (treatment-induced resistance to many cancer drugs) and cardiac toxicity, frequently associated with current cancer therapy. The company’s lead product, Amplimexon™ (imexon), is undergoing NDA-directed clinical development. Other products in the company’s portfolio include Amplizone™, which is anticipated to enter the clinic later in 2005, and a portfolio of derivatives of both lead compounds for future development. AmpliMed Corporation is based in Tucson, Arizona and is on the Web at http://www.amplimed.com.
